What do I do for a living? This is one of the questions that I get asked a lot on a daily basis. That’s why I thought I should just create a separate blog post focusing on that very topic. Besides, it will be a great way for you guys to learn more about me.
To answer everyone’s question. I’m a Licensing Specialist in a state government. I have been with them for 3 ½ years now. What do I do? I license Home Health, Hospice, and agencies who provide Personal care attendant services. So basically I review applications to make sure that these agencies all across Texas are in compliance and that they are following the rules and regulations. We make sure that their staff is qualified to provide skilled nursing services and that they can legally operate to ensure the health and security of their patients/clients. It is a big responsibility if you ask me but I love it! Especially because I know that I’m making a difference and that I’m helping our community to be a safer place.
I also love the fact that it’s your typical Monday – Friday; 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM schedule. It’s a job that allows me to still do other things like spending time with family and friends, go out and socialize or create content for my Instagram. It also allows me to take a long vacation and travel which is a HUGE deal because my boyfriend and I loves to Travel.
I guess the only downside I can say is that this job is not exactly the job that I picture myself to be doing. As some of you may know I majored in International Business with Logistics and Marketing. I graduated just last year (2017) and at that time I remember thinking to myself that after I graduate, I will be doing Imports and Exports for a major logistics company or that I will be a part of a huge marketing firm. (I was really ambitious as you can tell!) But things does not always go the way you planned it and you know what I am actually okay with that. I mean I was disappointed at first as I feel like I wasted years of studying, money and all the hard work I put into it but eventually I learned to love my job and love where I’m at. And that’s what really matters.
I am not giving up entirely in my dream though just to be clear. I am just taking a different route at the moment. Maybe someday I will actually work for a marketing firm or a logistics company. Who knows what the future holds. But what I do know is that right now is where I’m supposed to be. As cliché as that may sound I stand by it.
“Bloom where you are planted”.
So there you go! It’s short but I hope I answered some of ya’ll questions!
Now it’s my turn. What do you guys do for a living? or what are your goals and dreams? I sure would love to know!
